It is Chikankari embroidery. It is a conventional embroidery style from Lucknow. Basically it is a white-on-white embroidery style as seen in above image.

        There are so many stories related to Chikankari in India. One of the popular one credited to Noor Jahan, Mughal Empress and wife of Jahangir, believed to be the introductory to Chikankari embroidery in India.
